credits e-ABC
ABC (Arquivo Bibliográfico para produção Científica) is
result of an initial idea launched by Manuel de Oliveira Duarte, of
Electronics and Telecommunications Department of the University of Aveiro and for
Lídia Oliveira Silva of the Communication and Art Department of the same university in 2001. This idea was materialize thanks to a happy conjugation of diverse circumstances :
>Firstly, because Rui Isidro and João Faustino, to the date finalist pupils of Electronic and Telecommunication Eng., had had the courage of embracing it as the subject of their final course project.
>In second place because they had found in the Professors Joaquim Sousa Pinto and José Alberto Rafael the teachings that allowed them to transform the initial challenge into a structuralized and operative information system.
> In third place because in 2004 Johnny Santos and Cláudio Teixeira as IEETA investigators and under the Professor Joaquim Sousa Pinto orientation had decided to reformulate completely ABC, with the objective of fulfill the needs felt for the users throughout these years of use of the system.
in between there’s also the contribution of several other people: Mário Oliveira for all the technical and logistic support along a wide period of the development of ABC; Miguel F. Oliveira for having trod the first steps in the attempt to materialize ABC; João Tedim for having helped to congregate some of the materials used to build ABC; Francisco Fernandes and Pedro Beça for having determined to enrich the initial version of the ABC, so that it could become an integrant part of the information systems of the University of Aveiro and an platform available to all the Portuguese speaking scientific and academic community.
Three "final credits ":
> To the Observatório da Ciência e Tecnologia for the information given about the structure of the Portuguese academic-scientific system that is integrated in ABC;
> To the Instituto de Cooperação Científica e Técnica
Internacional and to the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia for their support through the financing of diverse projects and scholarships in a direct or indirect form that enabled the creation of the conditions that allowed this initiative to mature.
> To Aveiro Digital for their direct contributing for the complete reformulation of ABC.
the ABC continues to be a "building in construction". Help-us giving it the necessary form and robustness. Send your suggestions to: abc@det.ua.pt
