What it is the ABC?

ABC is a scientific publication archive, dedicated to the Portuguese speaking scientific community. It intends to give more visibility and existence, in the Internet, to the Portuguese speaking scientific-academic community, that is, to show that other people exist who speak the same language and that they share the same cultural patrimony. To show that they can find themselves in the incorporeal territory of cyberspace.

As to accede ?
The access to the ABC can be made from a personal computer with browser Internet Explorer (recommended) pointing with respect to the address: http://abc.ua.pt

Register as new user.
After registering yourself in the system you will be able to access to a variety of services available only to registered users.
Such as:
- publish documents for general availability for the ABC users community.
- print lists of publications in accordance with national or international norms standard of representation of bibliographical references.
- to keep and to manage a description with all your publications.

If you're using other UA services, them most probably you already have a valid user login and password. ABC uses the central user authentication of Universidade de Aveiro so if you have already an account for email them you don’t need to register for a new account for ABC. The registration method it self is very simple, it’s enough that you belongs to an institution of superior education in Portugal and fill in a registration form.

Login to the personal area.
Enter in http://abc.ua.pt and press the Login icon. After that, fill in the form with your login and password.

Inserting new publications.< br/> To insert a new publication, enter as registered user in ABC and choose admin/add publication.

Choose the type of publication to insert and fill in correctly all the fields of the form.
Note:
1. The data inserted in ABC is personal and not transmissible. Only the authors associated to the register can modify it.

2. When filling the names of an author, always indicate the name as it the document and later select the author from the list of the Authority Register. Later the system will format them as needed.

3. When inserting a document written for several authors that are ABC registered users, the system recognizes them as a group of users and all of them will have write permission as well as their Investigation Unit.

List my publications.< br/> As soon as you have some documents inserted in ABC, you can have lists of them. Choose the option admin/list publications.
You can choose to list all the documents or list documents of a certain category.

Modify my publications.< br/> You can, at any time, modify any one of your publications.

For this you have to choose the option admin/list publications and from the publications listed choose the option modify.

Note: To update, insert, delete or list documents, you must first login (see Login to the personal area).

When in the change document form, all the previous filled fields appear filled, for what you can now add new information or modify already the existing fields.

Searching< br/> If you intend to search for a document that you knowsthe author, the title or publication year, choose the type of search and fill in with the data that you know. Separate words with spaces without any separating characters (commas, hyphens, etc.).

   Example: Search for article published in a magazine with jury "Análise e Planeamento de Tráfego em Redes DECT".

To search all the publications from a certain institution, choose in the lateral menu "by Institution".

To search for publications of a certain Thematic Area (for example Exact Sciences Mathematics or Physics), choose in the lateral menu "by Thematic Area"
